Let me just start saying this is incredible eye catching. Then, I have to say this is the most figurative illustration in the anime/manga section. Isn't entirely realistic but maintains enough iconicity to the human figure. So it's ageless, anyone can relate and find true beauty in it.
Is quite fascinating that whit few colors you made it look so full of life and vibrant. Also I love how you managed the contrast between the cold and warm tones, putting vibrant warm touches on the main focus parts and leaving in soft pastel the rest areas. It gives the eye a perfect visual tour of the whole piece without loosing any element and without staying too long in just one spot.
Overall the composition is well balanced, there’s enough blank space for the higher weight elements to breath and the direction lines lead the look to all the main ones.
Being less technical, I can say this take me to other times. Times of big dresses and men in hats. Looks like a modern version of a classical painting because of the drawing style, the charming texture of the paper and the beautiful way you used the watercolor. Is like, almost watching Dorian Gray in person. Have you read that book?
He looks so fresh, serene, innocent and full of youth. The curly hair and the little freckles make him cute without being too feminine. And he seems like he’s having fun playing for the little bird.
Summing, just something I wish I could hang on my wall
Ahhhhhhhh, how gorgeous!! I absolutely love the way you used the warm colors, it's so bright and you have such a terrific sense for saturated tones~ And when to use soft glow and when to go with the sharper edges of lines to really bring our eyes to the finer details. This is just so pretty, I love the pinks in her hair and the freckles of her cheek... is that a touch of white gouache/ink I see? :3
